Health Care for ECD
Meeting Report, Geneva, Switzerland, 13-14 June 2019

This resource is the report of a meeting convened by the WHO, in close collaboration with UNICEF, the World Bank Group, the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH), and the Early Childhood Development Action Network (ECDAN) held in Geneva on 13-14 June 2019. The report takes stock of progress on implementation of the Nurturing Care Framework in certain countries and presents future strategic directions, implementation guidance, and partnerships for accelerated actions in support of nurturing care within countries.

Who is it for?

For use by a range of stakeholder groups including professional associations, regional networks, national governments, civil society organisations, foundations, and United Nations agencies.

Why is it useful?

  • The report synthesises the presentations, discussions, and working group results of the meeting and distils priorities for the way forward.
  • It covers the areas of advocacy and implementation support for nurturing care through healthcare and other sectors at national, regional, and global levels, as well as the creation of informal working mechanisms for continued partner engagement to move the agenda forward.
  • The report describes promising, evidence-based approaches — from research to implementation.
