Monitoring children’s development in primary care services

A WHO publication summarises the discussions held in a virtual meeting on how best to monitor children 0 - 3 years of age for risk of developmental delay, disorder, or disability in primary care services — considering factors at the level of the child, the family, and the community.

Who is it for?

For use by public health planners and primary health care providers.

Why is it useful?

  • The publication outlines approaches used in different countries for monitoring children’s development and providing parental advice on early childhood development;
  • It summarises information for anticipatory guidance, enables primary care providers to strengthen caregivers’ knowledge about supporting their child’s growth and development, and asking for advice when needed.
